MIKE TOLMIE TURNS 18! WHOOPS, I MEANT 80!

Ask someone to describe Mike Tolmie and you would get as many answers as there are stars because HOW DOES THIS GUY KNOW EVERYBODY?? Seriously, the man is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the history and people of Chilliwack. Maybe that is why nobody else quite embodies the phrase “getting older is mandatory, but growing up is optional” quite like him. He’s seen it all and he’s happy to tell you all about it over a coffee. This is probably the reason why everyone who knows the guy can attest to the fact that he is either the most entertaining and energetic man you’ve ever met, or he is a bigger headache than a 2x4 between the eyes. There is no in between and that is why we all love him. Now that he has reached eight decades, you’d think he’d have slowed down and started his eightieth decade with some calm, tranquil quiet at home. Well, I’m pleased to tell you folks that yes, old Mikey has been relaxing! Well, if you consider climbing 12ft trees with a chainsaw one-handed as relaxing and quiet! The way he bombs around town like he owns the place after a hearty “Get thee out yonder, Tolmie!” from his loving and extremely patient wife Ginny makes all of us shake our heads in both amazement and, occasionally, frustration. I wonder if we should buy a radio collar to keep track of the old guy. I mean, how old would he even be in dog years by now? Like, 500? If you know old Mikey and want to wish him a Happy 80th Birthday yourself, please give him a shout (at 604-792-9445) and let the old bugger know you still remember him while he’s still got half of one good ear! He may have made it to 80 years old, but you want to get him while he’s still vintage, not spoiled. Happy Birthday Pee-Paw!
